Whatever time of year you stay with us at Oulton Hall, there’s always plenty of things to do in Leeds. Here are some of our favourite seasonal activities

Spring

Kirkstall Abbey (30 minute drive) 
Step back in time.  

Founded in 1152, Kirkstall Abbey now stands as ruins that attract hundreds of people every year. The gatehouse now functions as a museum for the Abbey, and they do several talks and tours all about the history of Kirkstall Abbey.

Rodley Nature Reserve (30 minute drive) 
Do a spot of birdwatching. 

Rodley Nature Reserve is an important area of wetland for migratory birds. You can catch a glimpse of dozens of different species throughout the year, as well as up to 15 species of dragonfly and lots of stunning plant life.

Pub Walks 
While the day away.  

There’s nothing better on a sunny summer day than spending a couple of hours in a beer garden with your friends. So, why not turn it into an activity? Choose a beautiful scenic route to walk from pub to pub in the gorgeous Leeds countryside.

Scavenger Hunt 
Explore the city. 

Spend the day roaming around Leeds as you look for each landmark on the scavenger hunt. It’s a great way to see some less touristy parts of the city and still have fun with your friends or family.

Leeds International Festival of Ideas (45 minute drive)
Get creative. 

LIFI brings together writers, artists and thinkers from all walks of life for a weekend of talks and panels. With speakers like Magid Magid, Dr Christine Ekechi and Bimini Bon-Boulash, plus dozens more, you won’t get bored at this fascinating weekend.

Light Night (20 minute drive)
The UK’s largest annual arts and light festival is a must see during autumn.  

Several locations across Leeds are transformed into magical displays of light for just two days. The displays are inspired by everything from 80s videogames to fairytales to astronomy – everyone can find something at Light Night.

Leeds Christmas Market (20 minute drive)
‘Tis the season. 

Visiting Leeds Christmas Market is a must-do activity in winter. You can find all sorts of wonderful one-of-a-kind presents for your loved ones at a Christmas market, and the Leeds markets are no exception.
