What began as a Royal’s request for a midday bite to ward off hunger pangs is today an invitation to enjoy a variety of tea sandwiches and scones served with the iconic clotted cream and jam. Our vegan Afternoon Tea menu is full of plant-based recipes including sandwiches, scones, cakes and drinks.
For an extra special treat, why not indulge in a Hendricks gin & tonic or a glass of bubbly.
Served daily in the Drawing Room from 2.00pm-6.00pm

If you would like to try your hand at making them yourself, here is our Head Chef’s award-winning recipe (see below) – feel free to take credit for them yourself!
- 1kg Self-raising Flour,
- 250g Sugar
- 250g Margarine,
- 150g Fruit
- 5 Eggs made up to 1.25 pints with Milk
Mix flour, margarine, sugar and fruit to a crumb and then add the egg and milk mixture little by little to combine together. Roll out the dough to the thickness of the cutter or your desired thickness and brush with egg mix.
Bake on 160-165c for 18-20 mins or until golden brown. Serve with clotted cream and strawberry jam and enjoy.
