Wedding Trends for 2020
Top new trends you should know for planning your wedding
A new year means newly engaged couples, new fashions – and this year, a whole new decade! 2020 looks like it will be bigger and better than ever, with exciting new trends for your 2020 wedding. With more free reign than ever before, your wedding day can be as unique and as beautiful as you are, and from dramatic statement decor to eco-friendly touches, this year’s wedding trends are all about creating a more thoughtful and individual wedding.
Here at Oulton Hall, Leeds, we specialise in creating picture-perfect wedding days that are built around you, with a range of wedding rooms to choose from and a dedicated wedding co-ordinator to help craft your day so it’s just right for you. There’s so much you can do to create a special day that’s completely personal to you – so discover some of our favourite new wedding ideas for 2020 and get inspired.
One of our favourite looks for a wedding here at Oulton Hall is a room bursting with beautiful blooms. For a true statement, why not say your vows beneath a bower of romantic cherry blossom trees, or walk down the aisle surrounded by stunning floating trees and candles – and all without the risk of inclement weather!
This look is effortlessly romantic, and opulent without being obvious or gaudy. Complement your wedding colours with soft pastel flowers, or go for something bright and bring the room to life! Either way, you’re guaranteed to make a statement that your guests will remember for a long time to come. We’re experts at creating this look in our signature wedding suites – get in touch to find out more!
Each year, Pantone releases a ‘Colour of the Year’ from their endless range of shades and hues. This year’s pick is PANTONE 19-4052 Classic Blue – a truly timeless tone. While this might be a trend for 2020, we think this colour is timeless – a perfect pick for your ‘something blue’.
Bring this shade in to your wedding invitations, as a floral accent, or with your table decorations for a serene, simple feel. Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute, says this shade evokes “trust and faith… a sense of constancy and confidence” – and what more could you want for the beginning of your married life together?
Becoming eco-friendly and sustainable has never been more prevalent in the media and in our lives. Lots of us make little changes to help the environment – recycling as much as we can, choosing to walk instead of driving – so it’s only natural that eco-friendly weddings are becoming more popular. There are lots of ways to make your wedding more environmentally friendly. We love the idea of using 100% recyclable wedding invitations and envelopes made from recycled paper – the brown paper is beautifully textured, with the added benefit of giving your invitations a rustic, vintage feel.
Another way to keep your wedding green is by thinking local – for your flowers, use sustainable, locally grown wildflowers, or look into using dramatic dried offerings like pampas grass to make a statement without needing to source flowers from abroad. Another idea - ask your florist about eliminating floral foam from their designs, as this can’t be recycled! Oulton Hall is ideally situated close to Leeds, so you can rest easy knowing we have dozens of trusted suppliers nearby – we’re proud to support local Yorkshire businesses, who can keep your wedding day sustainable and still make sure that your big day goes off without a hitch!
Personalisation is a trend that’s not going anywhere – and it’s one we specialise in here at Oulton. There’s no one-size-fits-all wedding, and that extends to your guests too! We can create special sharing menus, platters and more – and our always-popular gin and prosecco bar carts adorned with fruits, flowers and herbs give guests the choice to create their own signature drinks.
The only limit is your imagination - our caterers can create a menu to match your style, and we have an entire little black book of suppliers who can help you craft an unforgettable experience. With a range of rooms to choose from, you can really put your stamp on the décor – from light-up letters to decadent diamante chandeliers, we can make your dreams come to life.
